Every anime or manga fan would have heard about Naruto at some point. He is one of the most popular characters in the web series.
Naruto Uzumaki was born an orphan who was carrying the dream of becoming the greatest Hokage. Later, he realized his dream of becoming Genin after he passed the Ninja Academy’s Genin test.
Naruto earned his junior rank of ninja after saving his master Iruka. After Iruka was saved by Naruto, Iruka changed his thoughts and he started considering him a competent Shiboni by performing a complex shadow clone technique Jutsu. After he achieved his fame due to his determination and his commitment to his principles.
When does Naruto become Chunin?
Naruto gave the Chunin exam. He also passed both stages of the exam in his first attempt. By beating Kiba Inuzuka and Neji in the preliminary match, Naruto was not able to earn Chunin’s rank.
To be part of Chunin, all the Ninjas need to demonstrate impressive strategies and leadership skills. Winning the game is not enough to qualify the leadership. Because the responsibility of the Chunin member is to lead a small number of Shinobi to face dangerous missions.
There was the only person who showed all the qualities to become a ninja that examiners were looking for, and he was Shikamaru. However, he lost his last battle against Temari. But still, his examiners praised him for his leadership and amazing tactics.
But unluckily, the final exam was canceled due to the coordinated attack of Konoha.
Naruto gave the second exam during a filler episode with the title of Chunin Exam On Fire! Naruto cleared the Chunin exam twice in this duration. He was against Konohamaru. There was a rivalry between Naruto and Konohamaru from their childhood. Even Konohamaru once vowed that he would defeat Naruto and become a Hokage.
After being a strong opponent, Naruto lost the fight by missing an important rule which was performing a prohibited ninja maneuver during the match.
Due to his small mistake, Konohamaru won the battle by default. As a winner, Konohamaru becomes a Chinun and points to Naruto as his military subordinate.
When does Naruto take the Chunin exams?
The first Chunin exam that Naruto attempted was hosted in his hometown in Konoha after The Land of the waves story arc. Although, the exam got canceled due to the planned attack on Konoha by Orochimaru and the ninjas of Sunagakure. This was a successful attack by killing the Third and Fourth Hokage.
In the Naruto Anime Series Part 1 and Part 2 (Naruto: Shippuden), he attempted his exam to become the Chunin. Naruto passed the second Chunin Exam but he did not become a Chunin or Jonin rank and didn’t earn the title. Naruto was granted the 6th Hokage of Jonin by Kakashi. He completed all the required studies and failed more than two Genin exams.
Neither did he attain the rank of Chunin or Jonin that reflects his Shinobi personality. He failed more than two times in the Genin exams as he was not a good student at all.

Why does Naruto never become a Chunin?
In the haste of becoming the Hokage, Naruto sits in Chunin exams twice. The attack on Konoha village left the village without a Hokage leader. After the attack, Naruto started searching for a candidate who can become the fifth Hokage with the rest of the ninjas so that they can bring peace and order to the villages.
After years, Konoha faced another attack. However, Akatsuki and their leader Nagato try to find the Nine-Tailed Fox in the body of Naruto. With the help of Naruto, the village once again won the match.
Naruto fought many battles after the first Chunin exam. Despite not being able to gain a Chunin rank, Naruto was the master of several S-rank Jutsu. Rank allowed him to win the war along with his allies and friends.
