Who is Itachi?

Why did Itachi kill his clan?
With the order of Danzo, Itachi was bounded to kill his clan. Danzo told Itachi of a coup d’etat planned by the Uchiha that would result in a civil war against the Leaf Village. Danzo said that Itachi kills his clan so that he can protect his village. Danzo shifts all the blame to Itachi so Susake would not hate the village for destroying the Uchiha.
